What is happening
The law that scraps the planned increase of the VAT rate on culture, media and sport to 21% was adopted by both houses of parliament (Senate: 28 October 2025) and applies since 1 January 2026. The reduced rate of 9% remains. Accommodation did move to 21% on the same date.
Why it matters
Determines which VAT rate you charge on admission to performances, concerts, museums and similar cultural services.
